Green Practices in our Showrooms
Raymour & Flanigan is voluntarily employing green practices in our mission to take care of the communities we serve, and we work and live. We are reducing our impact on the environment by avoiding emissions of over 800 tons of greenhouse gases through our purchase of green power for our New York stores. The green power purchase takes the form of Green-e certified renewal energy credits (RECs) generated at wind facilities across the US. This latest initiative compliments our existing environmental activities of Styrofoam, plastic and cardboard recycling, and reducing our energy usage in our facilities by using fluorescent bulbs and fixtures, and installing/upgrading HVAC energy-efficient systems.
Raymour & Flanigan’s Recycling Center
Millions of Pounds of Packaging Recycled!
The Recycling Center opened on the main Liverpool campus increases our capacity to process our furniture packaging materials and save millions of pounds of cardboard, Styrofoam and plastic packaging from going into Northeast landfills.
Mixed Office Paper Recycled
We launched the “Mixed Office Paper Program” in October 2007. All Showrooms, Customer Service Centers and Support Centers send their office paper (fax paper, envelopes, catalogs, letters, etc.) to the Recycling Center for processing.
Hundreds of Stories, Phone Calls & Visitors
The news media covered our story in the trade press, on TV, in newsletters and online. Recycling Center associates hosted lots of visitors and reporters who toured the Liverpool Recycling Center to learn about our process.
Heat from the Fleet
All the oil from our company fleet vehicles is used in the new waste oil furnace to heat the 12,000 square foot garage of our new transportation center on the main Liverpool campus.
