More Than Just a Desk

Basement Style

In your finished basement or any other room in your home, an unused nook, corner or wall can become the baseline for a perfectly appointed workspace. This arrangement is most like a "standard" home office and is especially helpful when you work from home. And if you can't fit a full-size desk, a setup featuring a writing desk with a hutch, file cabinet and matching bookcase is a great compromise. It'll provide plenty of storage and room enough for a practical desk lamp, while a nearby bookcase gives you easy access to reference materials as well as space to display accents. Speaking of which, since your workspace is going to be open and on display, you'll want the design to look cohesive with the rest of your room. So, choosing wood tones, wall art and an area rug with similar hues as the rest of the room will help tie everything together.
The leather-look insert on the desktop serves as a protective writing surface and adds a professional, luxe feel to your workstation.
A file cabinet will keep your important or confidential documents organized and out of eyeshot when not in use.
