Fabric Care

Fabric care through maintaining and protecting upholstered pieces has come a long way since the days when grandma would throw a sheet over the sofa when the grandkids came to visit! You can keep your new living room set looking just like it did in the showroom without resorting to a sheet or slipcover by vacuuming it once a week with a wand attachment and spot cleaning any spills as soon as they happen. You’ll also want to check the cleaning code assigned by the manufacturer to ensure you are properly caring for your specific fabric.
If the clean fabric is pilling, the good news is that this isn’t a defect. Pilling happens when the fabric releases excess fibers that were trapped in the weave. You can keep your fabric looking like new by using a fabric shaver (available at most craft stores) to control the pilling until the fabric stops shedding.
