Make Sure Your Home is Ready for Game Day
'Tis the season for spectator sports. Whether you're cheering for your favorite football team or watching professional skiers fly down a hill, game day party time is here. If you're the host, have no fear — it's easy to transform your space into celebration central!
Assess Your Space
If you have a big family or intend to invite more than a few friends and family members over, you're going to need more room. Clear out an area that's suitable for entertainment. Move unneeded, bulky pieces to another room, basement, or garage to give people space to move around.
Bring In More Furniture
Some people like to stand, nosh, and watch, but make sure everyone has a spot of their own, such as a sofa, accent chair, or bar stool. Don't forget to clear a space for coats. If closet space is limited, place coats on a bed, in an armoire, or on a coat rack.

Show Your True Colors
Pick a color scheme (like team colors) and buy coordinating balloons and partyware. Disposable items make cleanup a breeze. Hang team pennants or other sports memorabilia. If you really want to go all out, you could offer sports-related games.
Make The TV The Star
The TV is where the action is, so you want it to be front and center. Place the TV on a console or stand where it can easily be seen by your guests. Arrange furniture around it accordingly. Consider using multiple TVs.

Calculate Food And Drink Needs
For a sit-down event, party planners suggest one pound of food per person (and half a pound for kids) and one drink per hour. For a buffet and grazing type event, your food and drink needs will be less.
Master The Menu
Think finger foods, appetizers, and traditional game day munchies. Feeling inspired? Create a signature drink or cocktail. Use a cooler for beverages to add a tailgate vibe. If it's warm out (or if you're brave enough), grill up game day fare. Set food out where it's easily accessible, such as on a buffet, console, ottoman, coffee table, kitchen island, or bar cart.
Have a great game day watch party! We're rooting for you every step of the way.
