7 Spring Interior Design Trends To Help Bring the Outside In
The snow has melted, and a sea of lush green has finally taken its place. It's springtime, and I'm singing a happy tune along with the birds!
But that's not all I'm doing—this season offers an opportunity to add some lively springtime flair to interior spaces. I've been looking to give my nest a design refresh, and I encourage you to do the same.

1. Focus on Your Windows
Springtime means longer days and brighter, warmer light, which is much-needed after the dim winter months. So, it's only natural to let that radiant sunlight shine in — and the best place to start is with your windows.
If your curtains hang on a rod, swap your heavier, cozier fabrics for something sheer that allows you to embrace light at all hours of the day. If you have blinds or shades as window treatments, pull them up to a height equivalent to a third of the frame.
And finally, open that window! Let that warm spring air flow into your home. The gentle breeze and fresh scent can help enhance your enjoyment of every room.
2. Add a Few Mirrors
Speaking of the gleaming vernal light springtime brings, you can embrace more of it by hanging a mirror on a wall across from a window. The mirror will not only make the room appear larger, but it will refract the light, letting the golden afternoon glow linger indoors for longer.
In more formal or social spaces, consider choosing a mirror with a little more flair or a unique design, so it can double as a piece of art. For a large wall, I would consider hanging this sunburst accent mirror, which can help elevate a room's aesthetic.

3. Incorporate Spring Blooms
Part of the beauty of spring is seeing Mother Nature's wonders, whether you're exploring outdoors or enjoying the view from the comfort of your sofa. For areas with partial light, select indoor-loving plants like palms, ferns (my favorite is the delicate maidenhair fern) or bromeliads.
For areas with no light — like powder rooms or entryways — brighten up the space with faux flora, which you can always change according to the season. Lilacs in a low bowl or even an elegant orchid will bring springtime color and cheer into those darker corners.
4. Light Candles and Fresh Scents
Just as opening your windows to let in the springtime breeze can help create a relaxing vibe, bright-scented candles that celebrate the warmer weather can help make a room feel more comfortable and inviting. Scents with floral, fresh notes — like jasmine, rose, lemon, basil and coconut — will bring in some of the joys of being outdoors and have you dreaming of sunny days.

5. Use Veggies as Art Pieces
Springtime means strolls through farmers markets and gathering a bounty of fresh ingredients. Rather than hiding them in your refrigerator or pantry, put them out on display on a kitchen island or bar.
For me, nothing celebrates warmer weather like colorful fresh produce, and I love to see a kitchen with vegetables on display. A big bowl of vibrant ripe strawberries alongside colorful peppers and spicy radishes certainly brings the springtime in. If you have limited counter space, the Kona Kitchen Island could make a great addition, as it comes equipped with baskets that provide extra storage.
6. Bring Spring Into the Bedroom
When thinking about interior design trends, we tend to focus on our social spaces rather than private ones. But, in my opinion, the bedroom is a sacred space and should be given just as much attention.
You can do simple things to freshen up your bedroom when you're in the springtime mood. Remove thicker blankets and duvets, and replace them with cotton quilts or coverlets. Add a colorful bolster pillow to accent the bed. I also love to place bud vases of picked (or faux) flowers on my bedside table.
