Green & The Color Wheel

While there are many brilliant colors to choose from, this month is dedicated to a secondary color that is second to none: green. Whether you love to contrast this hue with red or you want to feature an array of its beautiful tones, these color schemes may just inspire you to go green!

This sophisticated and soothing scheme lends
itself well to classic and modern spaces. It uses tints and shades of one color, staying within the same column on the color wheel. A monochromatic scheme for green might include a range of tones from sage to hunter green.

Don’t let the name fool you—a complementary scheme combines contrasting hues. A little goes a long way when working with these color pairs, which are great for adding interest and energy to a room. Found opposite each other on the color wheel, the complement of green is red.

Harmonious and interesting, split-complementary colors will give your room just enough contrast. To find the split complement of green, look to the left and right of its complement, red. In the case of green, the split-complementary scheme would include purple-red and orange-red.

Perhaps one of the most pleasing palettes, analogous colors reside right next to each other on the color wheel. For example, a green analogous color scheme includes blue-green and yellow-green. Since they share a common component, these hues always look good together.
