How to Pick the Perfect Mattress

Ready to break up with your old mattress? You have so much to look forward to! We take the stress out of mattress shopping so you can relax while finding a mattress to solve your sleep problems. Here are a few things to consider before you begin.

Dress comfortably
Wear loose, comfy clothes and shoes you can remove easily.

Plan to stay awhile
On average, people test drive a car for 10 minutes but test a new mattress for less than 60 seconds! Take as much time as you need to relax and get a true feel for the mattress. After all, you probably spend a lot more time on your mattress than you do in your car!

Bring your sleep partner
You want to simulate your actual sleeping conditions as closely as possible, so bring your partner to ensure you find a mattress that's large enough and comfortable for both of you.
With over 70 mattress styles in our Raymour & Flanigan Sleep Center, there are a lot of options to choose from. That's why we developed our Comfort Test, which helps you narrow down your search by trying out four different kinds of mattresses. Here's a quick overview of the types of mattresses you'll try in your Comfort Test.

A tightly sewn cover and a firm sleep surface provide a solid, supportive feel.

Added cushioning and a loosely sewn cover conform to your body for a soft feel.

An extra layer of cushioning cradles your body with exceptional softness.

Memory Foam Furniture 101:
A resilient foam that cradles and conforms to your body by responding...

Body-contouring foam helps relieve pressure and absorbs your partner's movements.
You might be surprised to hear that the number one complaint among new mattress owners has nothing to do with comfort and everything to do with having the right box spring Furniture 101:
A box spring is a working foundation with springs that’s placed underneath...
. Make sure you ask about box spring options to find the one that's right for you.

Low-Profile Box Springs
"The bed's a lot taller than I expected" is an all too common refrain, and it's one that's easily avoided with a low-profile box spring. These foundations are three to four inches shorter than a standard box and make it easier to get in and out of bed.

Split Box Springs
If you live in tight quarters, you may benefit from a split box spring, which consists of two side-by-side boxes for easy moving. These foundations are available with many king and queen beds.

Adjustable Bases
In lieu of a box spring, an adjustable base lets you customize your position for sleeping, reading or watching TV. Plus, these bases can deliver a variety of health benefits.
While we aim to help everyone find their perfect mattress the first time around, we also understand that choosing a bed is not an exact science. That's why we offer a 45-Day Comfort Guarantee with our Platinum Protection Plan, which allows you to exchange your mattress if you're not completely satisfied. As an added bonus, you'll be covered for accidental damage to your mattress for five years.

What's Covered Under the Platinum Protection Plan?
• Food and beverage stains
• Rips and punctures
• Nail polish and cosmetics
• Burns
• and much more!
