STEP 1

Measure Your Room

Measure the length, width, and height of your room. Mark obstacles (windows, doors, odd angles) on your diagram with their measurements.

STEP 2

Arrange Your Space

Use non-damaging tape to mark placement of your new pieces. Walk through the area to make sure there is enough space between new and existing furniture.

STEP 3

Walk the Delivery Path

Walk the path your furniture will take. Note doors, turns, stairs, elevators and hallways.

STEP 4

Measure the Path

Measure doorways, stairs, hallways and elevators to confirm your furniture fits through.
Doorways: width, height and wall-to-wall distance
Stairs: width, ceiling height, and all landings, corners or turns
Elevators: doors width and height, and and ceiling height

Will It Fit Checklist

  • Is there enough space for your furniture in the intended room? (See Arrange Your Space)
  • Will it fit through your doors for delivery and placement?
  • Is the width of the piece smaller than the door widths?
  • Is there enough space on either side of the door to move the piece through horizontally or at an angle? Here’s what you need to check:
    • Is the length of the piece smaller than the door height?
    • Is there enough space on either side of the door (wall to wall distance) to move the furniture through vertically or at an angle?
  • Will it fit in the building’s elevator? (length of the piece should be shorter than the ceiling height and width should be narrower than the elevator door width)
  • Will it fit up the stairs?
  • Is the width of the piece smaller than the stair width?
  • If the stairs have any type of turn, is the length less than the ceiling height of the stairs?

Delivery Prep Checklist

  • Do you own pets? If yes, secure in a separate room.
  • Is the room ready? Move old furniture and place rugs. Mattresses can stay if you opt for our mattress removal service; see our delivery page for details.
  • Inspect new furniture carefully. Report any damage/issues to your delivery team immediately so we can make it right quickly.
